pricing-comparison

Major findings:

Many cloud server providers such as Linode, DigitalOcean, Vultr and Upcloud offer similar packages, it is shown obviously from the table that the cost of their cloud solutions are cheaper than other providers’ like AWS and Azure.

LayerStack’s offers are more cost-effective among all listed brand, its year plans are the cheapest options in every categories, up to 75% cost could be saved by moving your business to LayerStack cloud server.

Application Complexity
The below comparaison is sheerly a personal experience and suggestion. For reference only.

Major findings:

AWS, Azure and Goolge Cloud tend to offering detailed classified cloud solution for selection, customzation is an important factor for the cloud services of suggested brands, to a certain extent they require IT professionals to operate and make purchases.

On the other hand, LayerStack, Linode and DigitalOcean focus on providing stardard parckages with different vCPU, memory, SSD storage, data transfer and fixed monthly cost, it is user-friendly to non-IT professionals with simplifing the subscription of cloud computing.

Distance Business Programme (D-Biz)

With the Covid-19 outbreak, remote working is rapidly growing and becoming the new business trend. HK Gov has recently launched the Distance Business Programme (D-Biz) to support enterprises to develop distance businesses with innovative technologies and create new value. For each IT solution, the funding ceiling is HK$100,000 and each company may receive maximum funding of HK$300,000 to undertake a project to be completed within 6 months.

LayerStack cloud server is complied with high CPU and SSD performance which balance compute, memory and network resources. Besides, LayerStack is featured with Private Networking, Auto-Backup, User Permission Management and many more. Enterprises can effectively move their businesses and websites to cloud, allowing employee to access business documents without restrictions of space or time. Furthermore, enterprises can also be benefited with Data security, Scalability, Disaster recovery and Global disposition by applying cloud computing technology.

Distance Business Programme (D-Biz) is open for application from 18th May 2020, contact us via email: salesinfo@layerstack.com NOW for your customized cloud solution.

5G and Cloud Computing

The world is now heading towards 5G fifth generation network connection, 5G is revolutionizing the network industry by providing ultra-fast transmission rates which can be 100 times faster than the existing 4G. 5G is now live in 24 market globally and reaching 1.31billion subscriptions by 2023, accounting for more than 10% global connection. It is generally agreed cloud computing as the best partner for business to capture value from new 5G era, here is some ideas how cloud computing benefits your business.

Website Speed

In order to optimizes user interface and website experience, most of the website developers are sacrificing the website quality for website speed aiming to comply “Website 3 second Golden Rule”. As of now, seldom high specification image and video would be uploaded to websites, they are mostly built in a simple and easy way without so many complicated functions. In the upcoming 5G era, these speed restrictions would be solved by 5G ultra-fast transmission features. Cloud computing features like stable connection and high bandwidth can provide all-rounded supports to the new generation and needs.

New Businesses

5G feature – zero latency improves people mobile experience in a substantial way. The latency is typically around 40-50 milliseconds with 4G network, it will be reducing to 1 millisecond with 5G network which is undetectable to user. In fact, many business opportunities have become possible and workable in the future relying on the significant improvement on latency, such as Gaming, Driverless cars and VR/AR industry would be generally benefited from 5G. Today’s business environment will be restructured by the new technology, capturing value from new markets and blue ocean will be the major missions of organizations. Scalable cloud server supports any new business expansions without advance investments on hardware and software infrastructures which is time and cost effective for new business goal achievements.

The New Firewall Feature Has Arrived

One of the most brought up feature requests was Firewalls. The LayerStack Firewalls is a free add-on security solution, you can benefit from safeguarding your business while using your predetermined set of rules.

Tools like iptables are familiar to developers, but it can be complicated to use and may not work in all situations. LayerStack Firewall adds flexibility and simplifies firewall management, you can centrally manage rules and control common IP protocols to all of your cloud servers at ease. Beyond the LayerPanel v2.0, you can also assign firewall rule sets by our API.

Secure by Default

LayerStack Firewalls dropped all packets by default. This means that any traffic not matched by an explicit rule will not be allowed.

Easy to Configure

You can modify the rule sets in a Firewall Template to allow incoming or outgoing traffic access to the cloud servers from different ports within ICMP, TCP, and UDP protocols, also by targeting source or destination IP address.

LayerStack Firewall Create

Simple to Scale
You can create firewall templates for pre-defined rule sets, which makes it easier to manage your cloud servers in bulk and apply firewall rules as soon as you create a new cloud server. Each cloud server can also assign multiple firewall templates at your security preference.

Highlights

  • Automatic Backup

Last week we have released our new backup feature at LayerPanel v2.0. It is a simple solution to save all your server data in one click. LayerStack backups is a new tool that makes it easier for developers on the platform to back up their data from cloud servers at a single point in time. The automated backups will be run at regular intervals, allowing you to protect and recover your important business data. Pricing for backups is 15% of the cost of the cloud server per month. You may visit our product documentation for more details. Also, we have written a blog post about the most common cause of data loss of what we heard from our customers. We hope that you like it.

  • Private Networking

The second highlight we want to share is private networking, it’s one many have requested, a dedicated VLAN that user can enjoy true private networks without share subnet with other users. The private networking acts like a private gigabit ethernet switch, connecting your servers together via a second virtual ethernet card and preferred address in each server. This connection is under a private and high capacity network within the same region, that isolate your servers and filter public access to secure your sensitive data. Enabling Private Networking for cloud server costs HK$10/month for each region. Traffic over Private Networking is free and doesn’t count against your bandwidth. You may visit our product documentation for more details.
We are currently still working on the panel features that we hope to release shortly. Please stay tuned for more news to come. Our developer team looking forward to receiving your feedback on the LayerPanel v2.0. You are more than welcome to help us identify the panel’s rough spots and share your insights and inspirations on what needs to be done at our Community.

LayerStack Development Team

Here’s the most common cause of data loss of what we heard from our customers, and this is how LayerStack helps you.

Data loss is a major inconvenience that disrupts the day-to-day function of any business. The most common causes of data loss of what we heard from our customers are “Human Error”.

What is the Most Common Cause?

For businesses, human error is the leading cause of data loss. In fact, there are not as many security breaches, hardware failures, or data corruption as everyone imagined, and in most cases, employees have made mistakes in their work in some way. For instance, unintentional deletion of data files made by employees can overwrite important files or delete information that is critical to your business without realizing it.

There was one thing that happened to one of our customers recently, he accidentally deleted a primary database when he attempted to replicate the primary to the secondary location, so a huge amount of data was lost. Apparently, there are many such stories, but is it possible to reduce the chance of data loss with training? Yes, it is, but may not be completely avoided, as we cannot root out human error, so automatic backups could be a simpler way to reduce worry.

How Can LayerStack Help You?
